It has been 10 days since President Chen was forcefully transferred to Taichung prison from Taipei Veteran General Hospital. According to a psychiatric doctor, Dr. Pan Chien-Chi, who visited President Chen on April 29th, no primary doctor has been appointed to President Chen yet. Taichung Veteran General Hospital was assigned by MOJ to take over the medical care for President Chen and the deputy president of Taichung VGH, Dr. Hsu Huei-Huen, is appointed to be the coordinator for the medical team, which is not yet formed.
President Chen has resumed taking his prescription and Taichung VGH has all the prescription drugs certified by pharmacists and sealed in bags. A Taichung VGH doctor then opened the seal in front of President Chen and placed the pills in a seven-day prescription box for his daily use.
According to Dr. Pan, Taichung VGH just formed a new department, denoted as AT-HOME MEDICAL CARE DEPARTMENT, so that MOJ can justify that it indeed follows the recommendation of Taipei VGH, to provide "At-Home Medical Care" to President Chen. Taichung VGH declines to confirm this new department.
According to Dr. Pan, President Chen is extremely upset about the forceful transfer and his stuttering is getting worse. Taipei VGH had planed a follow-up treatment to alleviate the sleep apnea of President Chen but the forceful transfer interrupted the treatment. His uncontrollable handshaking and his wobbling are both getting worse. No meaningful treatments have been provided so far and President Chen is becoming more and more suicidal.
Dr. Pan was accompanied by DPP Legislator Liu Chien-Kua and other visitors include Taipei City Councilor, Ms. Chiuen Yu-Yen. They were made to wait for over one hour and forty minutes because the deputy warden of Taichung Prison was accompanying KMT legislator Yen Kuen-Hen, whose father was moved to Pei-De Prison Hospital on the first day of imprisonment. Yen Chin-Piau, the former KMT legistor, and a known mafia head, was convicted of corruption but MOJ allowed him to delay his imprisonment until he successfully campaigned for his son to succeed his legislator position. Yen Chin-Pian showed no signs of illness during the campaign and was immediately moved to Pei-De on his first day of imprisonment. No medical diagnosis of announced or needed to justify his transfer from a regular prison cell to the prison hospital. On the other hand, we all know what happened to President Chen. Two words: Double Standards.
President Chen became extremely upset and lost his temper when he learned that deputy prison warden played partisan politics. KMT Yen Kuen-Hen actually arrived later than DPP Liu Chien-Kuo, but the deputy warden obviously put his fellow KMT member at a higher priority.
President Chen's daughter also visited President Chen and brought the pictures of her children to share with President Chen. She did not speak to the reporters when she left.
